City of Elko Flood Update Press Release – February 17

A small stream flood advisory is currently in effect until 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 18.  Rain is expected in the Elko area throughout the weekend.

 Team Rubicon is leading volunteer clean-up efforts this weekend.  All volunteers wishing to assist are requested to meet at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18th at Home Depot for registration.  Team Rubicon will assist homeowners remove drywall, insulation, and carpeting that will eventually create a health hazard in the form of mold.  Team Rubicon’s services are FREE, and all members are vetted and background checked.  Team Rubicon will provide safety equipment and tools, thanks to a generous donation by Barrick Gold Nevada.  Anyone requiring assistance with flood damage should call the Red Cross Resource Center, located at Elko Fire Station #2, 725 Railroad Street, (775) 340-4550.  To learn more about Team Rubicon, please visit teamrubiconusa.org

 Elko Sanitation will be servicing construction debris roll-off containers in flood-impacted areas throughout the weekend.  If a roll-off container is filled to capacity, please utilize the nearest available roll-off container. 

 The City of Elko Building Department will be conducting inspections in the flood impacted area and can be reached at (775) 777-7220.  NV Energy customers requiring assistance over the weekend should call (775) 834-4444 and follow the prompts.  Southwest Gas customers requiring assistance should call 877-860-6020.

 The City of Elko Emergency Operations Center was closed on February 15th.  However, the Emergency Operations Center phone number, (775) 777-7320, will remain active until further notice.
